  • Generate sustainable profitability across market cycles through disciplined risk selection, exposure management, pricing, and portfolio oversight.
  • Build broker and carrier relationships that generate quality submissions and durable capacity; present your strategy and performance to carrier and reinsurance partners.
  • Recruit, mentor, and empower underwriters; establish staffing, authority, and referral practices that support profitable growth.
  • Partner with technology, claims, finance, and operations to improve underwriting workflows, use data effectively, and support compliance and scalability.

Qualifications

  • Typically 10–20 years of P&C underwriting experience in a specialty lines, E&S, or program environment, including deep expertise in an area of interest.
  • Demonstrated success building and growing a profitable book, with a clear understanding of risk, pricing, distribution, and long-term portfolio performance.
  • An established broker network and the technical credibility to earn carrier confidence and support for a new program.
  • Leadership or mentoring experience, P&L fluency, and the entrepreneurial drive to build and manage a business over the long term.
