Director of Legal Operations

Our client is a high-growth, technology-enabled insurance organization operating in the small commercial market. They are seeking a Director, Compliance Operations to play a critical role in building and scaling enterprise compliance, contract, and operational programs. This role sits at the center of Legal, Compliance, Security, Privacy, and Operations, with significant autonomy and visibility. The right candidate will serve as a trusted partner to senior leadership and materially improve how compliance and risk programs operate in a fast-moving environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional compliance initiatives, including audit readiness, due diligence, regulatory monitoring, and policy governance across Legal, Security, Privacy, and Operations.
- Own and scale core operational programs such as contract review, procurement, vendor risk, and contract lifecycle management, serving as a primary point of accountability.
- Act as a strategic partner to leadership by project-managing complex, ambiguous initiatives and serving as a reliable “number two” during audits, partner reviews, and regulatory inquiries.
Qualifications
- Experience in insurance compliance, with a strong understanding of insurance regulatory frameworks and operational compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to build, manage, and execute cross-functional programs in a dynamic or high-growth environment.
- Legal training strongly preferred (JD), with comfort reviewing and negotiating contracts and working with outside counsel.
